Things To Do In Surrey
30th September 2008
Surrey offers a huge number of good value attractions to suit all ages and tastes. All are within easy reach of most major road and rail routes which means less stress for the whole family. If you're tired of travelling by car, why not hire a bike or horse to explore the area and see Surrey from a completely different perspective? Look out for wild animals and birds or visit a working farm to feed the farmyard favourites. Definitely worth a visit is the Rural Life Centre - a museum with a comprehensive collection of farm machinery, tools, wagons, displays on past village life and a woodland walk.
Experience a thrilling ride at one of the theme parks with their extreme rollercoasters? Go on a fun-filled boat ride at Dapdune Wharf on the River Wey in Guildford or try your hand at ice-skating, bowling or rock-climbing. Mercedes Benz World is definitely worth a visit and apart from learning all about the history of the motor car, you can take part in thrilling driving experiences and exciting events. There are a lot of fun attractions for the kids and fine dining for adults, not to mention a host of classic cars for boys of all ages to admire.
If it's something a little different that you're after, how about having a go at llama trekking or paint balling at one of the centres in the Surrey countryside? For the less adventurous, retail therapy is always an option, of course, and Surrey offers a fantastic mixture of independent shops and High Street stores, with a choice of superb restaurants for a quick lunch to keep you going. After a hard day's shopping, enjoy superb live entertainment offered by Surrey's answer to the West End.
Sometimes less is more though and a romantic picnic at a quiet, peaceful spot down by the river or in one of Surrey's beautiful landscaped parks or gardens could be just what you need to recover from the stress of city life. Head for Box Hill which was actually the setting for a picnic in Jane Austen's novel "Emma" and you'll have a great tale to tell friends on your return home. There really are plenty of opportunities of enjoying a great day out in the fresh air!
