Speed cameras installed at Devil's Punchbowl
26th February 2010
Speed cameras have been installed near a £371m tunnel being constructed in Surrey, to protect contractors. They have been put up at the southern end of the Hindhead Tunnel roadworks on the A3, to limit motorists' speed to a maximum 50mph.
Surrey Safety Camera Partnership said the aim was to protect road users and contractors working on the site.
The tunnel, 1. 9km (1. 2 miles) long, will take the A3 under the Devil's Punchbowl, when it is finished in 2011.
