Kent hopeful over Parnell return

16th June 2009

Kent are hoping South African fast bowler Wayne Parnell will re-join the county after the ICC World Twenty20.

The 19-year-old left-arm paceman arrived in April but left when he received his international call-up.

He has been one of the stars of the tournament, with figures of 4 for 13 against the West Indies.

"We're trying hard, we're in discussions with Wayne and South African cricket," coach Simon Willis told BBC Radio Kent.

"He made a massive impact during his first period and we're hoping to get him again.

"Obviously those discussions are on-going and we'll just have to wait and see how things unfold, but we're pretty hopeful.

While at Kent, Parnell achieved his best first-class score with the bat - getting 90 against Glamorgan.

He signed as the county's overseas player in place of Stuart Clark, who was recalled by Australia.
