Hold Your Head Up High
21st September 2008
Great news girls - "Size doesn't count!" Men of all ages agree that it's the way a woman moves that makes her attractive and desirable. According to recent studies and surveys, they are more likely to fall for an XXL lady who has the X-factor than for a size zero with zero personality. Someone who is comfortable with herself will turn heads and attract wolf whistles as she strolls down the street oozing sex appeal and self-assurance.
The way you feel inside can alter your appearance in a way that nothing else can, but you can't get away from the fact that you need to look good. And by this I don't mean you should try to look like a movie star - I mean that you should look your best, no matter what size you are. Start by turning your attention to your good points for a change instead of always focusing on your bad points. You'd be surprised at the difference this shift of focus can make. If you still feel there's room for improvement once you've enhanced your best features, treat yourself to a new outfit or a pair of sexy high heeled shoes which are bound to give you an enormous confidence boost.
Now apply your newfound talent for positive thinking to other areas of your life. Most people groan and roll their eyes when they hear advice like - always look on the bright side of life or try to see the glass as being half full instead of half empty, but the power of the mind simply can't be ignored. Even if you feel you've hit rock-bottom, there must be something that you're proud of or thankful for. Focus on that and your life will automatically take a turn for the better, simply because you are looking at things in a different light.
The final step in your transformation is to make a list of at least five activities that make you truly happy. Whether it's spending time with your friends and family, being able to do your hobbies or treating yourself to a day of pampering at your local spa, be honest and put yourself first for once. Keep your list handy and do whatever you can to make sure that obligations and mundane activities don't keep you from doing the things that make you happy.
A lot of women (especially mothers) tend to feel guilty and selfish when they do something for themselves, but putting their families needs in front of their own happiness can backfire badly. Experts at bottling up years of disappointment, frustration and bitterness, it's no wonder that women are twice as likely as men to be depressed. Well, it's time for a change! If you are happy, you will make everyone around you happy too, so hold your head up high, hum a happy tune to yourself if it helps and when you visit your local supermarket, walk up and down the aisles as if you were a Victoria Secret model on the catwalk!
